it was like looking at me.
"don't make plans".
it's a life strategy. might not always work out the best. but most of the time works out okay. sure, there's always somethings you have to plan for, but man, you sure don't have to plan everything.
Feedback, comments, listens, all welcome. Thanks for your time, and have a great weekend.
If there's anyone out there that "feels" this kind of thing, and thinks they could bring something to it, contact me. If you think you even know someone who would be into vocalizing on something like this, contact me. Or give that person my contact info. ;)
PS:Pardon my posting of this in the A&R group. I'm hoping that maybe Indieboy or someone else may have also come across someone suitable as well.
peace
edit: sorry, i keep forgetting about 48 vs 44k....gr.
It's technically a demo in that there is a new mix on the EP, with some different arrangement and mix things goin on...
Oh, the vocal sample in the song was spoken by my fiancee. She doesn't charge royalties.
PS: Thanks for the graphic tip, Funk!
PPS: Shameless bumping for the win.
Just sharing a track from my forthcoming EP, "The Radio Under The Pillow"...this is the final mix. On my vox page you can also hear the original demo.
Thanks!
EDIT: Turns out I am NOT sharing it. It's playing back too slowly in both Firefox and IE.
WTF. If anyone has a clue, shoot one to me!
EDIT PART 2: Re-exported the track as ogg vorbis. Problem seems corrected. Now...if anyone knows what I can do about pink squares vs. a picture, holler back!
Enjoy.
Man I have been so negligent on this site. I really meant to be more proactive with it, and I certainly did well early on, hahaha! I apologize to those people I connected with and enjoyed the music of. I am back to listen, to interact, and to learn.
Truth is, I took on some side writing projects, and some side music projects, and now I am back focusing on myself, with a moratorium on side projects!
I am about to upload a new track from my upcoming release "The Radio Under The Pillow".
It's called "Beaujolais and String Theory". There is a demo of this track already up on my Vox page, but I am now also uploading the actual EP mix for comparison.
Of course, when the EP is done I will be selling it off of my .com site, at a very low price that I hope everyone will think is fair.
It's going to be available as a download, and also there will likely be an option for a hard copy mail out, with some extras. I hope. The downloadable will include album art so that people can print it out if they like and drop it in a jewel case.
Please, by all means, leave comments if so inclined, especially if you compare the demo to the finished product. I know electronic music is harder to judge on that level...but I welcome input and commentary.
peace

I've been working on the track "John's Machine" for some time, and have realized that it's going to require vocals. If I do it the treatment will be along the lines of Skinny Puppy. The song's sound itself is actually a strange amalgamation of Skinny Puppy, Prince, and Air. We'll see how it shapes up.
The other thing I realized is that in my arrangement, what I had been thinking of as a verse is actually a chorus. I found this out when I was trying to write the chorus melody and arrangement and came up with what I instantly realized was the verse.
The first things I came up with on the song was the bridge, followed very quickly by what I was thinking of as a verse, and I quite liked the verse. It was anthemic and soaring and really cool. I understand now that by trying to use it as a verse was creating an issue where nothing I was writing was surpassing it...taking it to an even higher level. I am not sure I am capable of it. I tried for a bit, I thought I was on some kind of Polyphonic Spree kick (I love that group...I mean every song is a collection of chorus hooks that you cannot stop thinking about!) but right now I can't push it further. When I came up with what is NOW the verse, it all fell into place.
I can deal with it. ;)
Today will be spent re-arranging the track, and trying to work on lyrics. I have some there, and lots of ideas, but nowhere near what the arrangement is calling for, haha!
FYI: for those space cadets out there like myself, "John's Machine" is inspired by the story of John Titor. I've been a fan of the possibility of time travel my whole life. Whether I believe the Titor story or not is something else entirely. I believe in the idea of it. Furthermore...what Titor wrote about his life, which is our future, doesn't seem all that absurd. I can see us going in that direction.
Whether Titor actually exists or not, one thing is certain...the person behind the words is worried about our future as a species, and only wants us to think about our actions today, and how they will impact those that come after us. As he tells us, the descendants of America will not look upon the America of 2007 with a kind eye, or a forgiving heart.
